During summer camp, practical life materials which support independence, developing fine motor skills, sequencing, order and caring for the classroom and self, are offered and rotated frequently. You can expect your child to do flower arranging, dusting, sweeping, mopping, watercolors, pastels, painting, sewing and other art activities. Your children will also spend a great deal of time caring for our growing vegetables, herbs and flowers in our garden. They will gather the vegetables and herbs and prepare them in the classroom by peeling and cutting cucumbers and eggplants, and using fresh herbs to make bread and creations like pickles and delicious tomatoes.
Summer is all about fun and presents an opportunity for your children to relax and enjoy their time, while still “working” and independently caring for themselves, peers and the classroom. At our DRMS Summer Camp, you’re primary-aged child will experience:
A Montessori primary classroom
Daily baking activities
A variety of arts and crafts
Water play (bathing suits, sprinklers and buckets!)
A comfortable space and familiar adults and students
Summer camp is offered five days a week from 8:30am – 3:30pm, with individual weeks to choose from beginning in July and ending in mid-August. You have the option to choose which weeks you would like your child to attend or you can enroll for the entire seven weeks.
