The Del Ray Montessori School is a non-profit Montessori School located in the quaint Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia, we are associated and recognized by AMI/USA (Association Montessori International). Founded in 2011, we serve children ages 18 months through age 12 and their families in the DC metropolitan area.
In 2011, a group of educators and parents aspired to create a school community that would foster to the needs of each truly and uniquely, amazing individual child. Our founders recognized that children have unlimited potential to learn from doing, and when given the proper developmentally appropriate tools, the uniquely prepared environment, and freedom to explore and direct their own activity, they will have infinite possibilities and endless opportunities for creativity. Through a deep appreciation and understanding of Dr. Maria Montessori’s framework of learning, The Del Ray Montessori School (DRMS) was born to achieve just this vision.
