Why I serve on the Board:

I truly believe in the mission of the organization and have seen its benefits first-hand in the community that has welcomed myself, my wife, and son first as members of the YCC and now in Sunflower. My focus on the betterment of the institution is in concert with my experience as a DRMS parent, along with my experience as a partner in my law firm.

Simply, I feel compelled to give back to the community that has given so much to our family and our son.

Ian Soule, Member

Ian is a patent attorney and director in Sterne Kessler’s Mechanical & Design Practice Group. His professional work includes the strategic management of preparation and prosecution of high-value patent applications for various mechanical, electromechanical, software-based, and biomedical technologies for a variety of clients. He manages complex global portfolios, actively supports litigation efforts, and counsels clients as a trusted business advisor. He previously worked as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO, and practiced as a mechanical engineer prior to that.

Ian received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, with honors, and his B.S., magna cum laude, in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technological University.

Outside of the practice of law, you can find Ian exploring neighborhood parks and beyond with his son and wife, sometimes accompanied by good friends, bocce, and wine. He's a later-in-life runner, and enjoys running in Northern Virginia on the Four Mile Run and W&OD trails, and around Del Ray for Sunday fun runs. He is a big fan of live music and looks forward to sharing that love with his son as he gets older.
